PROOF
June 24-28 at 7:30pm
Matinee Performance Thursday June 26 at 1:30pm
By David Auburn
Produced by Gremlin Theatre (St. Paul)

PROOF is a literary work of art, beautifully encompassing themes of academia, gender, relationships, grief and mental health. Captivating and thought provoking, a triumph of writing, PROOF is the story of a woman who took care of her genius mathematician father for years, as he deteriorated due to mental illness. When he dies, she is left wondering if she has inherited her father’s illness along with his academic prowess.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, clever and fast paced, creating moments of wit, hilarity, and pain with equal impact, PROOF is astonishing in its ability to create comedic and heart wrenching moments simultaneously. Gremlin’s production showcases great acting at its finest.

THE ROOT BEER LADY
July 15-19 at 7:30pm
Matinee Performance Thursday, July 17 at 1:30pm

The indomitable Dorothy Molter, known as The Root Beer Lady, was the last legal non-indigenous resident of the Boundary Waters. a fascinating woman who made her own way in a man’s world. She was a true trailblazer and the kind of person that becomes a folk hero around whom a mythology springs up. Funny and passionate, THE ROOT BEER LADY explores her independence, fortitude, and love of nature. Molter pushes back against the premise that her time in the North Woods made her the “Loneliest Woman in America,” as the Saturday Evening Post proclaimed.

LOVE & BASEBALL
July 22-26 at 7:30 pm
Matinee Performance July 24 ay 1:30pm

In the romantic comedy LOVE AND BASEBALL, a chance meeting sparks love between Will and Michele, but due to poor timing and the reality of life, they strike out twice. If fate gives them another shot at the plate, will they hit or miss? Like the pristine moments of an unforgettable baseball game, love is also a sport of luck, skill, and timing. LOVE AND BASEBALL speaks to the force of love, the power of connection, and the admiration of a sport played like an art form.

SCARECROW ON FIRE!
August 12-15 at 7:30pm
Matinee Performance Thursday August 14 at 1:30pm

In this year of Wicked, the prequel to the Wizard of Oz, storyteller extraordinaire Kevin Kling has penned a laugh-filled and irreverent sequel, entitled SCARECROW ON FIRE! The three Oz amigos, bored in their Oz comfort, respond to a psychological cry from their old pal, Dorothy. Using the ruby slippers she left behind, the boys make the reverse trip to Kansas. The Tin Man, an art-loving mechanical man is enamored of Kansas’ fellow machines. The brave Lion is baffled by the fear his beautiful baritone “roar” seems to elicit. And the Scarecrow again proves that actual brains are highly overrated, at least in Kansas. Their search leads to a desperate Dorothy caught in another kind of whirlwind and a Wizard that uses his prodigious skills of persuasion as a radio DJ on WOOZ.
Performed by a stellar cast, accompanied by the iconic music of the era, and enhanced by cinematic scenes from the silent 1925 Wizard of Oz with nods to the 1939 version we all know and love, SCARECROW ON FIRE! Is both breathtaking and heartwarming.
